As Sure As The Sun Comes Up

It was a night not as restful as the previous ones. I get up with a tinge of anxiety in my heart. But I welcome the day, and I welcome the light.

One of the things I love doing in the morning is to draw open the six-panel blackout curtains in the pastoral house living room and let the morning golden sunlight pour in.

Indeed, that big wide glass window that allows the living room to be flooded with light and warmth is one of my little joys in life. It also gives me ocular access to the wide open field which is the school next door’s sports and play area.

Through the seasons, that sprawling space alters from being immaculate white with snow; a verdant green carpet of grass; a colorful quilt of yellow, brown, and red autumn leaves; to a light dainty blanket of ice crystals.

This particular morning, it is a frost covering that welcomes my gaze as I part the curtains. It dusted the roofs of the houses of the neighbors, too.

A sense of serenity and calmness comes over me as I listen to the silence and look out.

A moment of SPA. I praise God and thank Him for another brand new day.

As I drive to the pharmacy, I see the horizon glowing with gentle morning hues of yellow and orange. Then as I pass by buildings, I see the sun low in the sky, flickering as though through the spaces of the building lining up the street.

As I keep on driving, I exclaim, “The sun is a guarantee of God’s faithfulness. Though the night may come with darkness, the sun will surely rise and bring light, causing the darkness to flee.”

I tear up as I feel the assurance that everything will be alright.

Last night my older son got bitten on the left cheek by our dog, and the antibiotics didn’t come in yet. I could have gotten a better sleep knowing that he had taken a dose of medication through the night.

That’s why I’m out here in the parking lot of the pharmacy early in the morning waiting for the prescription to get filled.

But the sun slowly rising up in the horizon assures me that God is faithful. Like the sun, my God will always come through, giving hope and peace. As sure as the sun comes up, my God will never leave nor forsake us.

Whatever you’re going through, always remember, God will always come through.
