Present Glimpses of the Glorious Hope

Read: 2 Corinthians 3:12-18

Here’s a question: can we, right now, right here in this world, in this life, in these fragile bodies of ours, can we even now identify with the victory that Christ attained through His resurrection? Or is this glorification something that is only for the future, particularly during the rapture or at the resurrection of the dead?

The answer is yes. Yes we can even now, at the very present time, identify with Christ’s victory. We can now manifest the glory of the resurrection. In fact I am certain that we are already manifesting this victory that we have in Christ.

“And we all, with unveiled faces, beholding the glory of the Lord,[e] are being transformed into the same image from one degree of glory to another,” 2 Corinthians 3:18.

Let us try to remember the “old” us, the “us” before we came to Christ and received His power. What a transformation we have all undergone! Here are just a few proofs we have been transformed from glory to glory. First, we have been taught how to serve the biblical and apostolic way. We can see this in our holy living, prayer life, giving, and selfless service. They say there is no free lunch. That’s how the world operates. But for us, we serve without expecting any compensation. God gave us gifts, we shall use it for His glory, with or without fee nor accolade.

Furthermore, we have come to see that there is more to life than what our eyes meet here on earth, and more than what this world tells us as important. We have, in fact, set our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2). We have learned to value the things that are spiritual and eternal over the things that are material and temporary. That, my dearly beloved, is the power of Christ’s resurrection.

Already, while still here on earth, we are being glorified, and this process of transformation is going to continue until we reach the final stage, the stature of maturity of our Lord (Ephesians 4:13).

So I want to encourage you today to see and appreciate the glorification process you’ve been and you are presently undergoing, and shall continue to undergo until the return of Christ. His power is able to work for those who believe. Is it in you?

Reflect:

Take stock of your life. Is glorification happening? Is it evident? If it is not, take a moment to pray and ask God to help you. If it is, then praise God and still pray for Him to keep sustaining you. If you’re unsure, implore God’s mercy and grace to show you the way. You and I are on this journey together. The road to glorification has its ups and downs, its highs and lows, its ebbs and flows. We just need to keep going. Until we reach the finish line.

Amen, We Praise God for making us worthy to be the recipient of his wonderful promise of glorification. As stated in his words from 1 Peter 2:9 We are His chosen people, called to declare the glory of Him who called us from darkness into His marvelous light. And by doing such He is also glorifying us in this life and in the life to come.
