Reading for today: Proverbs 31:20–29
“Many women have done excellently, but you surpass them all”
Mom, Nanay, Inay. These are words we always hear from our children. Sometimes they call us repeatedly, with or without purpose. I’m truly grateful to be called Mom. Every moment I spend with my children fills me with warmth and joy.
In the New Testament, Jesus was warmed by his mother, Mary. She beautifully exemplifies the journey of a mother. From the day she received the vision to the moments of confusion she faced, she still managed to carry Jesus despite her circumstances. People around her were being killed, even her own father, but she protected the baby in her womb. Joseph, her husband, didn’t know what would happen, but he still protected Mary and the child until Jesus was born. (Luke 2:6-7) Mary continued to play a crucial role in Jesus’ life, caring for Him until he reached maturity.

Being a mother is truly challenging. The responsibilities are continuous —feeding the kids, preparing them for school, dropping them off, helping with their assignments, playing with them, and then doing it over and over again.
As a child, I really appreciated my mother. Before heading to work, she made sure everything was ready. On Saturdays, she made sure our clothes were ready for worship. By Sunday morning, we were already in church. That action made me realize that I blessed to have a 4th Watcher Mom.

In the church, we are blessed not only to have biological mothers but also spiritual mothers. They are set aside to do something special. God placed mothers in the church to mold and guide us. By God’s grace, I had the privilege of being under the guidance of our beloved Evangelist Let Ferriol, whom I consider my mother in faith. She taught me many things, especially the importance of cleanliness, with the help of one of her secretaries at the time, Prb. Mercy Abainza, along with Ptr. Cecille Mendoza.

In the Church, we receive love and care from our women leaders. They are used by God to encourage us to serve the Lord. Though they have children of their own, the Lord called them to assist us with our spiritual needs. It is also their duty to preach the word of God, and even outside the pulpit, their teaching remains consistent.
They never stop showing their dedication to consistently teach us. It’s literally ‘buwis buhay’ for them to ensure we remain rooted in the church. As women leaders, they are genuinely concerned for us. We’re grateful that in our district here in Canada, we have women leaders who serve and oversee us.

We express our thanks to the Lord for the women leaders who are winning souls and instructing us to remain faithful to the church. My heartfelt gratitude to all women leaders in the church for your selfless dedication, unwavering love, and tireless efforts to advance God’s work. We are overwhelmed with joy. Thank you for being a spiritual mothers to us.
Happy Mothers Day to all our Mothers!
