Friends Again?

Reading: 2 Corinthians 5:11–21

You know that feeling—when you’re at odds with someone you love. There’s a heaviness in your heart, and life seems to shrink a little. Broken relationships do that.

That’s why seeing people make peace is such a gift. It’s never easy. Hurt emotions make reconciliation feel impossible, and pushing too hard can harden hearts. Yet, being an advocate for peace—though difficult—is deeply rewarding.

One of the most beautiful truths about God is this: we were once His enemies, yet He did not confront us with force. Instead, He sent advocates. He sent prophets. And when we still refused to listen, He sent His Son.

At Christmas, God gave us the greatest Advocate of Peace—Jesus Christ.

“For to us a child is born… and he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” (Isaiah 9:6)

God went to great lengths to show us His love and desire to save us. Jesus became our Mediator, and He appointed His apostles—and now us—to carry that message of reconciliation to the world.

God built an entire plan just to make peace with us.

This season, remember how much you’ve been given. You may not have extravagant gifts to offer, but you carry something far greater—the peace of God meant to be shared.

Be an advocate of peace. Seek reconciliation in broken relationships, including your own. And above all, invite others into peace with God.

“We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors… Be reconciled to God.” (2 Corinthians 5:20)

Many misunderstand God’s heart—but we understand. May we see it as both our privilege and responsibility to share His peace.

Reflection:
Is there a relationship in your life that needs healing? What step can you take today toward peace?
